DeMerini came into existence through the collaborative efforts of a very talented team of craftsmen under the direction of designer Louise Damiano. After studying fine jewelry at Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Louise Damiano spent the next four years apprenticing in Northern Italy further developing both her technical and design abilities. After returning to the United States, she worked for Bulgari and other manufacturers of fine jewelry before creating DeMerini. DeMerini has its own manufacturing facility in New York with 24 skilled craftsmen as well as its own casting facility. This gives DeMerini creative freedom, optimal quality, timely turnover of product and individualized customized service.
Design Style DeMerini's designs are influenced by the Neo-Classical and Romantic eras, as well as Art Deco of the 20's and 30's. These influences are subtly fused with the contemporary designs of our time. This is a style reminiscent of the past yet rich with contemporary freshness. DeMerini's aim is to move into the millennium with more innovation and progressive designs. DeMerini's intent is to create jewelry that is timeless and forever but unmistakably modern.
There is a quote from the critic Baudelaire who spoke of the romantic painter Delacroix. In 1863 he said "Delacroix was passionately in love with PASSION and coldly determined to find ways of expressing that passion in the most visible manner." The designs of DeMerini are indeed an expression of romantic passion and are meant to inspire the wearer to express that passion that lies within them boldly and confidently.
